Whether you’re staying in or painting the town red this New Year’s Eve, now’s the time to start planning your outfit!
With so many people to visit and events to attend during the festive period it’s easy to exhaust your wardrobe by Christmas day. That’s why we recommend planning your NYE outfit now!
Whilst shoes, ties and handbags are all very important aspects of an outfit, don’t forget to consider which frames you’re going to be wearing on the big night; after all, people will be speaking to your face not your feet!
We’ve put together a brief guide to help you choose frames to suit the dress code.
Hip and casual
If you’re keeping your New Year’s celebrations low-key this year by staying in with friends and family or popping down to your local, then keeping your outfit trendy and casual couldn’t be easier.
Get wrapped up in that big scarf Aunty Sarah got you for Christmas, your comfiest thick-knit sweater and your favourite pair of jeans for a trendy but casual look. This style looks great with a pair of chunky, plastic, hipster frames like our Men’s Brink Collection Daniel (£84*) and Women’s Baseline Christy (£38.70*) frames.
If you’re invited to a house party or planning a big night out this New Year then the Boxing Day sales are the perfect time of year to shop for a new outfit. For men a smart shirt and jeans or chinos should do the trick, but we recommend checking the dress code just to be safe! For women there are plenty of options available, but a party dress or chic top and trousers combo usually go down a storm and are quite easy to style.
A simple ‘party-wear’ dress code makes it easy for people to express their own individual style. Make your frames stand out by choosing colourful frames to suit your personality. Our men’s Party Eyes Clifford (£20*) frames and Women’s Oscar de la Renta OSL 508 (£125*) frames both make a striking addition to any party outfit.
Black tie or cocktail dress
Planning on seeing in 2016 in style by getting dressed up for a formal event? Buying a suit or cocktail dress for a black tie occasion can be quite expensive, so you’ll want to wear a pair of frames that complement your clothes without detracting from them.
We recommend going for smaller, thinner frames in a classic, timeless style like these men’s Tokyo Tom TT03 (£95*) and women’s Givenchy VGVA25 (£140*) frames.
Love them or hate them, everyone will be invited to a fancy dress New Year’s Eve party at some point in their lives. If you’re going to be wearing your glasses on the night and don’t want any confusion as to who or what you’re meant to be, why not incorporate your frames into your costume?
There are plenty of glasses wearing people and characters to choose from, including Harry Potter, Daria, Scully (X-Files) and Woody Allen. Our Men’s Retro 12 (£95*) frames have something a little Walter White (Breaking Bad) about them, whilst women could pass as Velma from Scooby Doo in our Women’s Truth 6 (£50*) frames.
Seen a pair of frames you like? Don’t forget we’re currently running a Buy One Get One Free offer on frames priced £65 and above**, so now is a great time to grab some stylish new glasses for 2016.
Whatever you end up doing this New Year’s Eve we hope you have a night to remember!
